Aries & the Scorpio Boss

Entrepreneurial

You were hired because of your enthusiasm, energy and incredible vivacity. You're a self-starter, a generator of ideas whose fearlessness fits well into the Scorpio scheme of things. Now let's take a closer look at how to maintain a harmonious relationship with your Scorpio boss so that both you and the company succeed!

Using Your Strengths

Your mission, Aries, should you choose to accept it, is to find new ways and to try new methods that enable Scorpio's company or services to expand and grow. Live the Star Trek motto that fits your sign—go where no man (or woman) has gone before. Look for gaps in the market that the company might fill. Be the intrepid explorer you are and follow your passions.

Generate as many ideas as you want and make your case for each of them. Some won't pan out, but for the ones that do, make sure you have a plan that explains how the idea can be implemented. Don't fly by the seat of your pants. Once an idea has met Scorpio's approval, get out of the way and let another employee—perhaps an earth sign?—carry things through.

Stand Up for What You Believe

If you're passionate about one of the ideas you've generated and that Scorpio has nixed, don't give up. It means you haven't presented the case in a way that adequately expresses your passion and why you think the idea would work.

First, go back to the drawing board. Do more research. Don't hesitate to enlist the help of co-workers who are as enthusiastic about the idea as you are. A Virgo can help you to connect the dots and dive into the details. A Taurus co-worker will persist until the strategy is laid out. A Gemini will spread the word about your concept. You get the idea. Draw on the strengths and abilities of your co-workers.

When you're ready to present your idea again, when you're standing up for what you believe in, let your passion shine! Scorpio may then see things differently.

It's unlikely that a Scorpio boss will ever ask you to do something that's against your principles. But if your boss is the Demi Moore type in Disclosure, there may be a situation where that happens. I recently heard a rather harrowing story about a Scorpio female boss whose company provides an entertainment service to downtown bars and restaurants. She hires outside contractors to carry out these services, and they are assigned to particular venues on particular dates. One of these out-side contractors had told her weeks in advance that he wouldn't be able to make one of his assignments due to a prior commitment. The Scorpio boss forgot about it and didn't get any-one else to cover for the man. The restaurant owner was angry about it, and the Scorpio boss blamed the outside contractor.

During the contractor's yearly review, Scorpio informed him that he wasn't getting a raise because of what had happened. He showed her the text message he'd sent her about not being able to make it on that particular date and her response that she would get someone to cover for him. It was clearly her fault, not his. But instead of apologizing, she asked him to lie to the restaurant owner, to say he was at fault. He refused—and is now looking for another job.

Set Goals

Life is often so immediate for you that it's a challenge for you to think ahead, to set goals. But with a Scorpio boss, one of your prime directives is to set goals. Have a list of daily, weekly and monthly goals. Keep the list on your phone, your iPad, your computer or wherever it's most accessible. At the end of each day, week or month, check your list to see what you've achieved.

Once you get into the habit of doing this, it could become second nature to you, Aries, and you won't need the written list anymore. If you're out to impress your Scorpio boss, this is one sure way of doing it—as long as you actually follow through on achieving the goals!
